Bluetooth 4.0 or Bluetooth Low Energy is a wireless personal area network technology designed and marketed by Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group). The main difference between classic Bluetooth and Bluetooth LE is the low power consumption of the latter. Bluetooth LE operates on ISM 2.4 GHz radio band. In case of Apple devices, Bluetooth LE is supported from iOS 5 and later. Core Bluetooth is the framework in iOS that provides the required functionalities to operate with Bluetooth LE devices.
