Change shell prompt, remove username, machine domain

You can easily remove the default shell prompt text in bash. It might as well work on other shells too!

and your change takes effect immediately. So your shell now will be,

Mine now is just “|” so there’s room for text! Update your ~/.bashrc file and add the export PS1=”|” there. The change will be permanent this way. You can refer to the list of template strings you can use in PS1 definition from this article.
